PM Modi G7 Summit: First meeting with Brazilian President
Meanwhile, it was the first meeting between the Indian PM and Brazilian President who noted that this year marked the 75th anniversary year of establishment of diplomatic relations. They reviewed their Strategic Partnership, and discussed ways to further deepen it, especially in sectors of defence production, trade, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and bio-fuels. The leaders exchanged views on regional developments. They emphasized the importance of continued cooperation in multilateral platforms, and the long-standing need of reform of multilateral institutions.
PM Modi also expressed willingness to welcome President Lula in India for the G-20 Summit in September this year.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi joined other leaders at G-7 Summit in Hiroshima to visit the Peace Memorial Museum. The Prime Minister signed the visitor’s book in the Museum. The leaders also paid floral tributes at the Cenotaph for the victims of the Atomic Bomb.
