New Delhi: A 36-year-old tribal farmer from Odisha’s Bhumia community has received an invitation to attend the upcoming G20 summit to be held in New Delhi on 9-10 September.
The Ministry of Agriculture will organize the event of G20 Summit special visit of the spouse to the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) campus in New Delhi on 9/9 to showcase the remarkable progress of the country in the field of agricultural technology and millet production, giving visitors a first-hand experience of millet.
Who Is Raimati Ghiuria?
Raimati Ghiuria’s participation in the summit was related to her role in a millet-centric exhibition that included millet startups, millet rangoli and live cooking.
The woman emphasized the importance of better technology and scientific farming methods introduced by the Odisha Millet Mission (OMM), which have significantly improved the yield and quality of millet growing in the district.

Belonging to the village of Nuaguda in the Kundra block of the district, Raimati, for his active involvement in the restoration of traditional crops, especially the traditional varieties of rice and millet, has now become a role model for women in her community.
Her dedication to agriculture has made her a resource person and to date, she has trained over 2,500 farmers in millet intensification, row transplanting, intercropping and biological control against pests.
Preserved Indigenous Rice, Millets
As a guardian farmer, Raimati has preserved more than 72 traditional indigenous rice varieties and more than 30 varieties of millet.
Her outstanding contributions to the agricultural industry have earned him numerous awards, including the Genome Savior Community Award in 2012, the Jamsetji Tata National Virtual Academy Scholarship Award in 2015, the Outstanding Farmer Award Best from TATA Steel in 2015, 2017 and 2018, among many other awards. Along with Raimati, Subasa Mohanta, a 45-year-old tribal farmer from Matiagarh village in Mayurbhanj district, will also attend the summit.
