An IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Srinagar made an emergency landing at Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport in Varanasi on Wednesday.
According to IANS, the emergency landing took place after a fuel leak was suspected. All 166 passengers and crew members onboard were safe, and no harm was reported. Normal flight operations resumed at the airport, authorities confirmed.
“The pilot of IndiGo Airlines flight number 6961 noticed some fuel leak, after which he immediately contacted the Air Traffic Controller (Varanasi) and requested priority landing,” Times of India quoted LBSI Airport Director Puneet Gupta as saying.
The aircraft safely touched down at 4:10 pm at Varanasi Airport. All passengers were deboarded and waited in the hall until the aircraft was examined by the technical team. The team inspected the aircraft, and later it was cleared for departure.
On October 11, a technical issue was reported on IndiGo flight 7253 operating from Madurai to Chennai after the captain observed a crack on the aircraft’s windshield, according to sources.
The crack was noticed by the pilot as soon as it appeared on the aircraft’s windshield. The airline’s engineering team has been alerted and is carrying out a detailed inspection of the aircraft. Preliminary findings indicate that the crack is external.
IndiGo sources said the aircraft will be cleared for service after all mandatory maintenance checks are completed.
