In a major crackdown, Delhi’s Special Cell on Thursday nabbed Zoya Khan, the wife of gangster Hashim Baba, in a drug-related case. She was arrested with 270 grams of heroin, valued at approximately ₹1 crore. Zoya was arrested from northeast Delhi’s Welcome area on Wednesday while allegedly attempting to deliver the drugs. The police had no clue about her involvement in managing her gangster husband’s illegal operations, and agencies struggled to gather evidence against her—until now.

Gangster Hashim Baba is in Tihar Jail with multiple cases of murder, extortion, and arms violations against him. Zoya, the third wife of Hashim Baba, married him in 2017 after divorcing her first husband.

Who Is Zoya Khan?

Police say that 33-year-old Zoya Khan has been running the Hashim Baba gang ever since her husband, Ashim, was arrested by Delhi Police’s Special Cell in 2019. The couple, married since 2017, share a complex past—Zoya is Ashim’s third wife and comes from a family with a history of criminal activities, including human trafficking. Reports suggest that Zoya first met Ashim while she was still married to another man, eventually becoming deeply involved in his underworld operations.

Hashim Baba Gang

Despite being behind bars, Hashim Baba, who faces 16 criminal cases ranging from murder and attempted murder to dacoity, continued to run his gang with an iron grip. Operating from jail, he maintained control over his network in east Delhi’s Jaffrabad, Bhajanpura, and Welcome areas. Since his arrest in 2019, he is believed to have orchestrated at least five murders, including the GTB Hospital shooting, by passing orders to his loyal gang members from prison.

Hashim Baba gang And Lawrence Bishnoi

He was also linked to the murder of a gym owner in South Delhi’s Greater Kailash, allegedly carried out on behalf of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. According to police, Baba and Bishnoi established a connection while Baba was in Tihar Jail in 2021.
