The ‘Queen’ of Bollywood successfully contested the 2024 General Elections as a BJP candidate and won with a huge margin from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh. The Bollywood star, known for her candid and often controversial statements, has always been an ardent admirer of Prime Minister Narendra Modi besides being very vocal about national issues. In an exclusive and no-holds-barred interview with News24 on Wednesday, Kangana Ranaut spoke candidly about a wide range of issues including her upcoming film ‘Emergency’, her entry into Parliament as BJP MP, the controversy surrounding her remarks about the farmers’ protest, and the slapping incident. During the interview, she also expressed her opinion about the BJP high command’s apparent displeasure with her controversial remarks on the farmers’ stir.

On Row Over Her Remarks On Farmers’ Protest

Kangana made headlines recently regarding her controversial comments on farmers. She discussed the reaction from her party leadership and she only regrets that the statements somehow hurt the party. She stated that people in Punjab and farmers are being instigated against her, and she even faced an attack at the airport. She later added that the farmers protest was indeed hijacked. Kangana expressed confidence, saying that she believes people will eventually understand what happened to her.

On Her Entry Into The World Of Politics

Talking about her transition from the film industry to politics, Kangana said that the world of Parliament is entirely different. She shared that she has gained many new experiences there, which have contributed to her personal growth. Kangana also stated that the country can only survive if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) remains in power, claiming that the opposition is trying to destroy the nation.

On Her Upcoming Movie ‘Emergency’

Kangana Ranaut is releasing a film titled ‘Emergency’, which is based on the Emergency imposed by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975. She mentioned that the film will show how even the most influential leaders can become intoxicated with power. However, Kangana also clarified that the film does not portray Indira Gandhi or Gandhi family in a negative light.

On Rahul Gandhi

During the conversation, Kangana criticized Rahul Gandhi, questioning how he secured the position of Leader of the Opposition when there are more senior members within the Congress party. During the rapid-fire round, she also mentioned that Rahul Gandhi will never be able to achieve the popularity of Indira Gandhi.

On Narendra Modi, Yogi Adityanath

In the rapid-fire round, when asked about the best Prime Minister, she chose Narendra Modi. For the best Chief Minister, she named Yogi Adityanath. When asked who the most popular leader in the country is, she reiterated her choice of Narendra Modi.
