The picturesque tourist resorts of Gulmarg and Sonamarg have once again transformed into winter wonderlands following fresh snowfall in the higher reaches of Kashmir. This delightful weather change comes as the minimum temperatures across the valley have shown a slight improvement. However, residents and visitors alike faced a significant drop in daytime temperatures, leading to a chilly atmosphere throughout the day.
In addition to the enchanting snowfall in these popular destinations, the Zojila axis along the Srinagar-Leh national highway also witnessed snow accumulation, impacting travel conditions in the region.
According to officials from the meteorological department, the weather in Kashmir remains predominantly cloudy, with weak western disturbances approaching the area. These conditions are expected to bring light snowfall to the higher elevations of North Kashmir’s Kupwara and Baramulla districts, as well as parts of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district in the coming days.
