New Delhi: In a horrific incident, at least four people died after drinking spurious liquor in Dhandhuka, and six people have been shifted to Ahmedabad for further treatment, said Dr Sanket, Medical Officer Dhandhuka.

Gujarat Director General of Police Ashish Bhatia said that the police had detained three liquor smugglers from Botad district, who were allegedly involved in selling illegal country liquor. Also, seven people have died due to drinking illicit liquor, while about 10 others are admitted to different hospitals. The police have detained three people for questioning.

Earlier, the wife of a victim undergoing treatment told reporters that her husband’s condition started deteriorating hours after consuming alcohol in Rojid village on Sunday night. Another victim Himmatbhai claimed that on Sunday night at least 15 people fell ill after drinking liquor bought from a smuggler.
