Four dead, three missing after landslide hits Sikkim’s Rimbi

Superintendent of Police (SP) Geyzing Tshering Sherpa informed that three people are still missing and others remain in critical condition.

Sikkim Landslide: Four people were killed and three went missing after a landslide hit the Upper Rimbi area under Yangthang Constituency in West Sikkim at midnight. Three individuals died on the spot, while a police team, in coordination with local villagers and SSB personnel, managed to evacuate two injured women from the affected area. Despite the successful evacuation, one of the women succumbed to her injuries during the treatment. Superintendent of Police (SP) Geyzing Tshering Sherpa informed that three people are still missing and others remain in critical condition.

“Four dead and three missing after a landslide in Upper Rimbi under the Yangthang Constituency in West Sikkim at midnight. Three individuals were killed on the spot when the landslide hit. The police team, in coordination with local villagers and SSB personnel, managed to evacuate two injured women from the affected area after constructing a temporary tree log bridge over the flooded Hume River. Despite the successful evacuation and their immediate transfer to the District Hospital, one of the women succumbed to her injuries during treatment. The other remains in critical condition, and three are still missing,”  SP Geyzing Tshering Sherpa said.
