A major accident in Nashik has left former Shiv Sena MLA Nirmala Gavit critically injured after a speeding car hit her on Monday evening. She has been admitted to the ICU of a private hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Hit-and-Run Outside Her Home
The incident took place outside Gavit’s residence, where she was out for an evening walk with her grandchild. A fast-approaching car suddenly struck her from behind with great force. The driver did not stop and fled the scene immediately.
Locals rushed to help after hearing her screams, and she was quickly taken to a nearby hospital with severe injuries.
CCTV Footage Captures the Shocking Moment
The entire incident was recorded on a CCTV camera installed near her house.
In the video, the vehicle can be seen coming directly from behind and hitting Gavit at high speed before driving away without stopping.
The Ambad Police Station has registered a case and launched a search for the vehicle and the driver involved.

Accident or Intentional Hit? Footage Sparks Suspicion
The CCTV visuals have sparked discussions among locals and family members.
Many believe the manner in which the car hit her appears suspicious. The speed, angle, and direct impact have raised doubts about whether this was merely an accident or a deliberate attack.
Police officials have stated that they are examining all possibilities.
A senior officer said, “We are investigating the matter from all technical and forensic angles. A conclusion will be drawn only after a detailed report.”
Who Is Nirmala Gavit?
Nirmala Gavit is a well-known political figure in Maharashtra. She served as MLA from Igatpuri twice. She is the daughter of former Union Minister Manikrao Gavit.
In 2019, she quit Congress to join Shiv Sena (Uddhav). Later, on 28 May 2025, she moved to the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). Nearly 1 lakh women workers joined Shinde’s group along with her at the time.
