Former Punjab CM Prakash Singh Badal dies at 95

New Delhi: Former Punjab chief minister and Shiromani Akali Dal patriarch S Parkash Singh Badal died on Tuesday at the age of 95. Party president Sukhbir Singh Badal confirmed his death. 

Earlier on Monday, it was reported that he was under strict observation in the ICU at Fortis Hospital in Mohali.

According to the information, Badal was admitted to the hospital on April 21 after he felt difficulty in breathing. He had been in ICU monitoring since then

Parkash Singh Badal was a 4 times Chief Minister of Punjab. He served as CM in 1970–1971, 1977–1980, 1997–2002, and 2007–2017. He was also the youngest Chief Minister to hold the position in the state of Punjab.

Prakash Singh Badal’s health suddenly deteriorated last Friday morning. He was then taken to the hospital in Mohali, where he breathed his last on Tuesday evening. Parkash Singh Badal contested the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections. But he was defeated.
