Pune: Former President Pratibha Singh Patil husband ‘Devi Singh Shekhawat’ passed away on Friday. He was 89 years old. At around 9.30 am on Friday, he was taken to a private hospital in Pune after suffering a heart attack, where he died during treatment.

Dr. Devi Singh Shekhawat was born and brought up in village Chhoti Losal in Sikar district Rajasthan. Later he settled in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. Devi Singh Shekhawat was the mayor of Amravati. He had also made commendable contributions in the field of education.

He did his PhD in 1972 from Mumbai University. He was also the principal of the college run by Vidya Bharti Shikshan Sanstha Foundation. He was elected MLA in 1985 from Amravati.

Let us tell you  that Pratibha Patil became the Governor of Rajasthan in 2004. After this, in 2017, Pratibha Patil became the 12th President of India.
