Shibu Soren, former Jharkhand Chief Minister and JMM patriarch, passed away on Monday at the age of 81 in Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. He had been under treatment for over a month, battling kidney-related illness since his hospitalisation in late June. His condition deteriorated critically in recent days, and he was placed on ventilator support on August 2. His son, Hemant Soren, the current Chief Minister, announced the death in a post on X, writing, "Beloved Dishom Guruji has left us. I lost everything today." Shibu Soren, who had stepped back from active politics in recent years, was the founding patron of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
