Taking the matter to Twitter, Shah wrote in Hindi, “Met Shri @oprajbhar ji in Delhi and decided to join the NDA alliance led by Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji. I welcome him to the NDA family.”

“The arrival of Rajbhar ji will strengthen the NDA in Uttar Pradesh and the efforts being made by the NDA under the leadership of Modi ji for the welfare of the poor and downtrodden will get further strength,” Shah further wrote.

Speaking on his decision to join the NDA alliance, SBSP chief, Om Prakash Rajbhar said, “We met Union Home Minister Amit Shah on July 14 and discussed various issues and decided to fight the 2024 elections together. I want to thank PM Modi, HM Amit Shah, CM Yogi Adityanath for taking us along.”

“We will attend the NDA meeting in Delhi on 18th July. The post of minister is not important for me. Now there is no competition in Uttar Pradesh,” Rajbhar added.

The SBSP, also known as the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party, initially formed an alliance with Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party to contest the 2022 Assembly election. However, in July of the previous year, Om Prakash Rajbhar decided to terminate the alliance with the Samajwadi Party.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
