The deceased has been identified as Shishir Sahu, who was working as a forester in the Sarankul Pancharida range. Nayagarh SDPO Jyoti Ranjan Samantray informed that Sahu’s half-burnt body was recovered from his house on Friday night. The very next day, his wife Namita and son Abhishek were arrested by the police.
According to the police, Namita suffered minor injuries during the incident while Abhishek remained completely safe. Initial investigation has revealed that domestic discord could be the reason for this crime, as Shishir Sahu often stayed away from home and spent little time with the family.
During interrogation, Namita and Abhishek told that they together poured petrol on Sahu and set him on fire. Firefighters reached the spot and controlled the fire and recovered Sahu’s half-burnt body, which was trapped inside the house. During interrogation, the mother and son have confessed their crime.
