Misri said, “Instead of owning up to its actions, Pakistan made the preposterous and outrageous claims that it is the Indian Armed Forces that is targeting its own cities like Amritsar and trying to blame Pakistan… They are well-versed in such actions as their history would show… Pakistan spread disinformation that India targeted the Nankama Sahib Gurdwara through a drone attack, which is yet another blatant lie. Pakistan is trying desperately to impart a communal hue to the situation with an intention to create a communal discord.”

When Asked whether the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor is operational or not, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said, “In view of the existing security scenario, the services of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor have been suspended till further directions.”

Marco Rubio spoke to EAM Jaishankar

The foreign secretary also responded to a question over Foreign minister’s S Jaishankar’s conversation with US Secretary of States Marco Rubio. He said, “Yes, the Minister (Dr S Jaishankar) had a conversation with the US Secretary of State. The focus of discussions was the terrorist attack in Pahalgam and the response that India mounted after that on the 7th of May. The Secretary of State shared his thoughts on these developments with the Minister. The Minister deeply appreciated the US’ commitment to work with India in the fight against terrorism and he also underlined the targeted measures that India had taken in connection with Operation Sindoor.”

The conversations took place in the wake of Indian strikes under “Operation Sindoor,” which targeted nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. India’s Ministry of Defence said the action was in direct response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen.

Attacks were largely intercepted by India’s air defence systems

According to Indian defence officials, the attacks were largely intercepted by India’s air defence systems, including the S-400 missile defence system, preventing significant damage.
