Forbes has revealed the world’s most powerful women’s list, which includes four Indian ladies this year. In the ‘The World’s Most Powerful Women’ cover image, Forbes has carried Indian politician and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s photo along with Thasunda Brown Duckett, Taylor Swift, and Giorgia Meloni’s picture for the cover page. Sitharaman topped the list of Indians. The magazine ranked her 32nd in the 100.
Nirmala Sitharaman, Rank 32, Age 64
Nirmala Sitharaman, a senior figure in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was appointed as India’s finance minister in May 2019. She is also the minister for corporate affairs. She also served as the 28th female defense minister between 2017 to 2019. Before her career in politics, Sitharaman held roles at the U.K.-based Agricultural Engineers Association and BBC World Service.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra, Rank 60, Age 42
Malhotra is the chairperson for HCL Tech. She’s responsible for all strategic decisions for the $12 billion HCL Tech. HCL was founded by her father, Shiv Nadar, in 1976. HCL became a central player in India’s IT hub. She took over the chairperson role from her father in July 2020. She is a trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which is focused on education and has established some of India’s top colleges and schools. She has held the most powerful woman position on the Forbes list for years. In 2019, she was ranked 54th; in 2020, she was 55th. holding the 54th position in 2019, 55th in 2020, and 60th in 2023.

Soma Mondal, Rank 70, Age 60
Soma Mondal became the first woman chairperson of the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) in January 2021. Born in Bhubaneswar, she graduated in electrical engineering in 1984. With over 35 years of experience in the metal industry, she started at NALCO and rose to become Director (Commercial) before joining SAIL in 2017. Mondal has more than three decades of experience in the metals industry. She joined the state-run National Aluminum Co. after graduating from electrical engineering.
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Rank 76, Age 70
Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw founded the biopharmaceutical firm Biocon in 1978. Ms. Mazumdar-Shaw has received numerous awards, including the Othmer Gold Medal in 2014 for her contributions to science and chemistry.
