On Thursday afternoon, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported that a slab of a flyover in Andheri, western Mumbai, fell on a moving car. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
BMC reported that the incident occurred near Gundavali metro rail station on Western Express Highway at 3:20 pm.

Mumbai Congress posted on X, stating, ‘This is an alarm for urgently checking all infrastructure projects – both constructed and under construction – around the city as soon as possible.’

Activist Zoru Bhathena shared a photo of a collapsed slab, stating, ‘The slab of the flyover has fallen at Jog Flyover on Western Express Highway in Andheri West.’
Bhathena posted on X, “My BMC, My MMRDA, My MSRDC, multiple agencies for construction, none for maintenance. This is My Mumbai.” Authorities have not yet determined the reason behind the collapse.
The incident occurred just over a month after a huge billboard collapsed on a petrol station in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, resulting in the death of 17 people. Former Allahabad High Court chief justice Dilip Bhosle heads the committee investigating the May 13 incident. Maharashtra Minister Uday Samant informed the legislative assembly on Monday that the state government will soon announce a policy regarding hoardings in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
