Five security personnel were injured during a fierce gun battle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua on March 27. The security forces neutralised two terrorists in the incident. The army intensified its operations against a group of five infiltrating terrorists.
According to a PTI report, it was not clear whether the terrorists were from the previous group that infiltrated through Sanyal forest in Kathua or a fresh group that infiltrated the region.
The officials said the security forces conducted anti-terrorist operations that triggered intense firing and explosions. The Jammu and Kashmir police stated that the area has been cordoned off by the security forces.
A special Police officer sustained face injuries during a gunbattle with the terrorists. The officer was treated at Kathua Hospital. Later, he was referred to Government Medical College Hospital in Jammu.
Earlier on March 23, firing was reported at the Hiranagar area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua while security forces were conducting a search operation.
After this, Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) Police and troops of the Rising Star Corps of the Indian Army had launched an intelligence-based joint operation in Hiranagar, Kathua.
“Based on Intelligence Input regarding presence of terrorists, a Joint Operation has been launched by @JmuKmrPolice & troops of #RisingStar Corps on 23 Mar 25 in general area Saniyal #Hiranagar. Operations in Progress,” Rising Star Corps, Indian Army informed in a social media post on X.
