Lord Shri Ram will be consecrated in the Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya tomorrow, on January 22, 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself will attend the ceremony. Before that, the Indian Orbit Research Organization (ISRO) provided a spectacular view of the Ram Temple from orbit. For the first time, a photograph of the Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya was shot from space.

Ayodhya Captured By ISRO Satellite
For this image, ISRO used an indigenous satellite from the Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) family. This image shows not just the Shri Ram temple, but also a big portion of Ayodhya. The train station below is visible. Dashar Mahal is visible on the right side of the Ram Temple. The Saryu River and its flood area are in the upper left side.
You’ll be astonished to learn that this picture was shot a month ago, on December 16, 2023. Since then, the weather in Ayodhya has been shifting. Due to severe fog, the satellite was unable to take another photo. India currently has around 50 satellites in space. Whose resolution is less than one meter.
This means that these satellites are powerful enough to capture clear images of objects smaller than one meter in size. The National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC), based in Hyderabad, processes and handles these photos. The picture continues from there. In addition, the temple was built using ISRO technology.
Do you want to know how? The business that built the temple, Larsen & Turbo (L&T), got GPS coordinates. So that accurate information regarding the temple complex can be obtained. These coordinates were correct within 1-3 millimeters. This effort used ISRO’s indigenous GPS, NavIC (Navigation using Indian Constellation). The map and coordinates were constructed based on the signals received.
