The Rajasthan police achieved a breakthrough on Saturday by arresting a key suspect linked to the killing of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi. Identified as 23-year-old student Ranvir, investigations unveiled his alleged involvement in organizing the shooters, Nitin and Rohit, in Jaipur.
Ranvir, a close childhood friend of shooter Nitin Fauji, facilitated their accommodation in Jaipur, arranging stays at a hotel and an acquaintance’s flat. Following the fatal incident, Ranvir aided their escape by providing transportation from Ajmer Road and assisting them onto a Rajasthan Roadways bus at the Nagaur depot, ahead of Bagru toll plaza.
The police had recently identified Nitin and Rohit as the two shooters responsible for Gogamedi’s killing. Rohit Rathore hails from Rajasthan’s Nagaur, while Nitin Fouji is a resident of Haryana’s Mahendragarh.
In response to the incident, Director General of Police Umesh Mishra formed a specialized investigative team, led by Additional Director General (Crime) Dinesh MN, offering a substantial cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to the apprehension of the accused.
Gogamedi, who was fatally shot in the living room of his Jaipur residence earlier this week, was laid to rest in his native village in Hanumangarh district after a post-mortem examination at the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital.
Hanumangarh’s Additional Superintendent of Police Subhash oversaw the post-mortem and subsequent transport of Gogamedi’s remains to his hometown Gogamedi in the Bhadra area for his final rites, which were conducted on Thursday evening at the Rajput Sabha Bhawan.
