Fire at Jagruti Society in Mulund West

Fire at Mulund building: A massive fire broke out during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday at a seven-storey residential building in Mulund, Mumbai, according to local official.

Rescue operation is underway and nearly 80 people have been rescued so far and 10 are badly burnt, including three children. They were rushed to the nearby hospital.

On March 15 around 2:55 pm, the incident took place at Jagruti Society in Mulund West. According to the official statement, “Total of 80 people were rescued by BMC’s Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) from the staircase to the terrace and a few were brought down to the ground floor. Of these, 10 people were found at the staircase in an unconscious state and were removed and sent to Agrawal Hospital.

“The fire was contained to electric wiring, electric installation, electric main cables, all metres, all switches, etc. in a shared electric metre cabin on the ground floor plus higher seven storey residential structure,” it added.

The Bombay Fire Brigade of the BMC put out the fire.

An official statement read, “Due to the incident, the entire stairway was filled with smoke and some occupants were trapped in the lobby.

According to an official, the 10 patients who were admitted to a neighbouring hospital are currently in stable condition.
