An FIR has been registered against four government school teachers in Bihar after the circulation of a photograph depicting their association with an electoral candidate representing the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in the Supaul constituency. This incident has incited controversy due to the apparent breach of regulations barring government employees from partaking in political endeavors as per service protocols.
The disseminated image from Bihar, featuring the teachers who belong to different government schools of Bihar alongside the aforementioned political candidate, garnered widespread attention across social media platforms, thereby catalyzing accusations of partiality and infringement of established codes of conduct governing the conduct of civil servants. Consequently, an inquiry has been initiated to scrutinize the degree of their involvement, leading to the lodging of the First Information Report (FIR) to ascertain the veracity of the allegations.
The teachers have been identified as Sanjay Kumar, Bholanath Yadav, Vinod Ram Paswan, and Sunil Kumar Yadav. Kumar Devendra, the sub-divisional police officer, Bagha has ensured further investigation regarding the same.
This development underscores the stringent guidelines dictating the political impartiality expected from government personnel, with the overarching objective of upholding the objectivity and probity of public service. The implicated teachers now confront potential disciplinary measures, contingent upon the resolution of the ongoing investigation.
This occurrence serves as a salient reminder of the delineated boundaries for public servants in India concerning their involvement in political activities, with a concerted effort aimed at ensuring their steadfast neutrality, particularly during electoral cycles.
