The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has set September 14 as the final date for free Aadhaar detail updates. The deadline has been extended multiple times, with the latest extension announced on June 14 this year, pushing it forward by three months. Prior to this, the UIDAI granted extensions on March 14 and December 15 last year. While it remains uncertain if another extension will be granted, Aadhaar users are advised to update their details soon to avoid any last-minute rush.

What Can You Update Online?

Aadhaar holders can update their address online by submitting valid Proof of Identity (POI) and Proof of Address (POA) documents. Importantly, no fee will be charged for this service if the address hasn’t been updated in the last 10 years. However, it is essential to ensure that the mobile number linked to Aadhaar is the same, as OTPs sent to this number are required to complete the login and update process.

Is It Mandatory to Update Aadhaar After 10 Years?

Although not mandatory, the UIDAI recommends that users update their Aadhaar details every 10 years to ensure that their information remains current, especially address details. Keeping Aadhaar updated helps avoid complications when accessing government schemes and services.

Consequences of Not Updating Aadhaar

Failure to update Aadhaar details may result in the loss of certain benefits tied to government schemes, which require accurate beneficiary information. Additionally, outdated details can cause issues when using Aadhaar as proof of address, potentially leading to complications in availing services. To avoid these problems, users are strongly encouraged to keep their Aadhaar details up to date.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
