New Delhi: Film-maker Ashoke Pandit has been booked allegedly for sharing a fake video of Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in which he refuses to offer prayers to god.

In its complaint, the Congress mentioned that Ashoke Pandit has a history of sharing such posts, owing to which, his social media account has been subjected to investigation in the past.

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Twitter shared a copy of the complaint filed against Pandit. The Congress leader tweeted, ” The offender deleted his social media post after it was exposed, but he will face the law for his atrocious deed. We will not allow such people to get away lightly.”

In his now-deleted post, Ashoke Pandit said “Janeudhaari Rahul Gandhi is refusing to perform aarti. The reasons are clear.”

The video grabbed eyes of everyone in no time also attracting criticism for Rahul Gandhi. However, some fact checkers found out that the video is morphed as the picture used in the video is from Gandhi’s Rajasthan visit in 2017 where he had actually performed arti.

The complaint alleged that the video was a “deliberate attempt to outrage religious sentiments of members of Hindu community using deliberately falsified videos.”
