February Freeze Alert! India Braces For Another Cold Spell, IMD Forecasts Rain And Fog In Multiple States – Check Details

Cold temperatures are expected to add an extra chill to the air in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana on 28th January. A fresh cold spell is expected to intensify starting late January, with February moving towards even colder conditions. Drop in temperatures will likely be seen across India next month.

IMD Weather Update: Chilly temperatures and rain are expected to tighten its grip across North India. Weather experts forecast another cold spell at the start of February that may affect several key states. Meanwhile, the arrival of two successive western disturbances is expected to sweep the Western Himalayan Region during the next few days. Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall and snowfall are predicted to lash the region from the 29th of January. Potential rain/snowfall activity is also expected over the Western Himalayan Region’s adjoining plains from 30th Jan to 1st February.

The India Meteorological Department forecasts another disturbance brewing in the south. Wet conditions are likely to persist in a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal from 30 January to 1 February 2025 and over Kerala & Mahe on 31st January.

Travel Disruptions Expected In Uttar Pradesh, Punjab

According to IMD’s latest update and data, dense fog is expected to blanket the north, significantly reducing visibility in a few parts of Uttar Pradesh till the 30th of January. Additionally, fog will complicate travel, during the night and early morning hours in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh until tomorrow, January 29, and in Delhi/NCR on the 2nd of February. Widespread Fog is also expected to engulf Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, and Bihar till the 31st of January.

Delhi Records ‘Poor’ AQI

Residents of Delhi woke up to ‘poor’ air quality for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, January 28. The overall AQI was recorded at 259 at 6 am today.

IMD said a fall in minimum temperature up to 1°C was witnessed in the national capital during the past 24 hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures over Delhi were recorded in the range of 22 to 24°C and 6 to 08°C respectively. Partly cloudy sky is expected in the city on the 30th of January.
