A father in Kanpur’s Barra 8 area has created a lot of buzz on the internet when he staged a protest after his daughter fell into a water-filled pothole while on her way to school. The incident occurred near Ram Gopal Chowk, highlighting the poor condition of roads in the area, especially during the rainy season.
The father, who was hurt after his daughter fell into the pothole and got drenched, adopted a unique and effective method. He reached the spot with a mat and pillow and lay down in the muddy water to draw attention to this civic negligence.
As per a News18 report, people passing by stopped in surprise, traffic slowed down and people gathered to watch a strange protest in which a father was protesting his daughter’s pain by lying down in the muddy water. He said, “This is not a political move, it is our compulsion. We cannot see our children falling and people getting hurt every day. Despite several complaints, no one is building the roads.” They were also seen raising the slogan “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”.

Locals also joined the protest. They said that they have repeatedly demanded the councillors, MLA, MP and municipal officials to repair the road from Ram Gopal Chowk to Anand South City, but no one paid heed.
A local told News18, “This road is full of potholes. During rains, it becomes difficult to identify where the road ends and the pothole begins.”
This road is an important route connecting Barra and Gujaini, which is used by thousands of people daily, but there has been no change in its condition. Locals recall that last year too an elderly man fell into a similar pothole and got injured.
