In a harrowing incident, a senior citizen tragically lost his life in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, after a tanker allegedly collided with his car and dragged him for a distance, said the police on Sunday. The accident occurred around 2 PM on Saturday at a bridge located in Tara village along the Mumbai-Goa highway in Navi Mumbai.
Following the tragedy, the deceased’s wife filed a complaint. Consequently, the Panvel taluka police initiated an FIR against the tanker driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act. The accused, who has been identified, remains at large and has not yet been apprehended.
According to law enforcement, Srikant More, a resident of Khalapur in the neighbouring Raigad district, was travelling with his wife in their car when the tanker collided with their vehicle from behind.

Upon exiting his car to assess the situation and engage with the tanker driver, the victim was caught in a tragic turn of events. The tanker driver, while in conversation with the victim, reportedly moved his vehicle, dragging the 60-year-old man along for a distance, as detailed in the woman’s complaint.
Subsequently, the tanker driver allegedly pushed the victim onto the road, leading to a fatal accident as the victim was crushed beneath the vehicle. Following this, the tanker driver swiftly fled the scene, leaving behind a scene of tragedy.
