A new Link Expressway has been approved for Farrukhabad, as promised by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. This expressway will play a crucial role in the district’s development and is expected to start construction this year.
Currently, Farrukhabad does not have direct connectivity to any expressway, which has had a negative impact on industries and businesses in the area. The new Link Expressway will change this by providing easy access to major highways and boosting the local economy.
The new expressway will connect Farrukhabad to the Chitrakoot Expressway. It will begin from the Sawajpur tehsil in Hardoi and will enter Farrukhabad. This project will be a great help for villages situated along the Ganga River, which are often affected by floods. A drone survey has already been conducted to assess the project area.
The expressway will be built at a high elevation, which will help reduce the impact of flooding in many of these villages. About 35 villages will be directly affected by the project, as the expressway will pass near them. However, there has been no significant activity regarding land acquisition for the project at the local level yet.
Apart from improving local connectivity, the new expressway is also expected to boost tourism. It will offer a direct route to the famous Neem Karoli Dham, a well-known religious site. Devotees of Baba Neem Karoli will benefit from the improved accessibility.
The expressway will also connect neighboring districts and even areas near the Nepal border to the Bundelkhand region. People traveling between different districts and states will find it easier to use this route, and it will also serve as a link between different expressways, including the Agra-Lucknow Expressway and the Ganga Expressway.
Farmers in the region will also benefit from this new expressway, as it will make it easier for them to transport their products to other states. Additionally, the project will connect three important expressways—Agra-Lucknow, Ganga, and Bundelkhand Expressways—bringing significant growth opportunities to the region.
The proposed Link Expressway will pass through 35 villages in the district, including areas like Etawah, Kannauj, Mainpuri, Farrukhabad, Shahjahanpur, and Hardoi. This expressway will connect the Agra-Lucknow Expressway and the ongoing Ganga Expressway, creating better connectivity and contributing to the development of the region.
In addition to this, the government has also proposed to upgrade the Etawah-Bareilly Highway and the Badaun Road to National Highway status. This will improve connectivity to cities like Delhi, Agra, and Lucknow.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also submitted a proposal to the central government for the construction of a new national highway from Moradabad to Saurikh, passing through Chandausi, Badaun, Farrukhabad, and Chibramau. This highway will connect the Ganga Expressway and is expected to bring substantial development to the region.
The total length of this proposed national highway is 270 kilometers. If approved, it will further improve the infrastructure in the district, creating new opportunities for growth and progress.
