In response to the farmers’ union call for Gramin Bharat Bandh on February 16, the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police implemented restrictions in the city on Friday, invoking CrPC Section 144, which includes a prohibition on public assemblies.

Noida Police Order Due To Farmers Protest

The statement issued by the police regarding the development stated that the due to the various programmes like protest and other demonstrations proposed by the farmers union including Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Friday, Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) is being implemented to maintain law and order.

Who Organised Bharat Bandh Protest?

With an aim to address the longstanding demand of farmers, Bharat Bandh protest is organized by 37 farmers’ groups in association with the SKM. Their major demand is the enactment of a law guaranteeing minimum support prices (MSP) for crops.

Traffic advisory for Delhi

In view of the protest, Delhi Police issued an advisory stating that significant routes such as Singhu, Tikri, and Ghazipur borders are likely to experience congestion due to the farmers’ march and advised commuters to steer clear of some areas, as the police have strategically placed multiple layers of barricades.

Traffic advisory for Noida

Police also advised the commuters to choose the alternative modes of transportation such as Delhi Metro in order to avoid any inconvenience as the checking and barriers on all state borders may lead to traffic diversions.

However, the emergency vehicles are allowed to ply from the boarders.

Recommended routes for commuters

Recommended routes have been suggested for specific areas, such as the 130-metre road towards Pari Chowk via Depot Roundabout, where alternatives include Supertech Roundabout, Honda CL Chowk via P-03 Roundabout, and IFS Villa Roundabouts. Similarly, for vehicles on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, alternative routes via Knowledge Park/Expomart Roundabout and Hindon Cut/Galgotia Cut are advised.
