A nationwide strike (Gramin Bharat Bandh) has been called by the farmers union including the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) on Friday in order to protest against the non-fulfillment of their demands by the center. Due to this strike, several sectors – transportation, agricultural activities, rural employment schemes, and others are likely to be disrupted all over the country.
Farmers Protest – Timing Of Bharat Bandh
The Gramin Bharat Bandh is slated to take place on today from 6 am to 4 pm. However, farmer are also planning a massive chakka jam on several major roads from 12pm to 4pm.

Affected Routes
Due to the farmers Gramin Bharat Bandh, several routes will be affected as traffic on the Punjab routes will be disrupted for more than four hours, leading to potential diversions and delays. Particularly, Delhi NCR borders at Singhu (Delhi-Haryana), Ghazipur, and Tikri (Delhi-Haryana) likely to witness significant traffic disruptions, posing challenges for commuters heading into the capital.
Farmers Protest – Affected Sectors
Amid the farmers protest all over the country, the sectors which will be affected on February 16 are transportation – apart from essential services such as ambulance etc. will only be allowed to ply on the borders.

Furthermore, the agricultural activities and farming operations in the country will be halted, operations under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MANREGA) Act will also come to a halt, closure of offices, shop situated in villages will also be closed, rural industrial, service sector institutions activities are also suspended for the day.

Meanwhile, the protesting farmers will stage a nationwide chakka jam on key roads and boarders for four hours from 12 pm on February 16 in the county, while no transaction activities involving vegetables and other agricultural related payment will be done.
