Farmers Protest: As the farmers protest ‘Delhi Chalo’ march enters fifth day, the Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) announced dharnas outside residences of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders in Punjab, demanding legal Minimum SupportPrice (MSP) guarantees. Former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Sunil Jakhar, and Kewal Singh Dhillon’s homes will be focal points. Furtehrmore, the toll plazas will also be blocked by the farmers.

Stalled Farmers Protest – ‘Delhi Chalo’ March
The farmers protest was stalled by the security personnel as they remain at Punjab-Haryana border points, pressing for MSP legal assurances. Their progress was halted at Shambhu and Khanauri borders.

Farmers Protest – Fourth Round of Talks Scheduled
On the other hand, Union ministers including Arjun Munda, Piyush Goyal, and Nityanand Rai, are scheduled to meet with the farmers to conduct fourth round of talks on Sunday to address their demands. Previous talks were held on February 8, 12, and 15.
BKU (Charuni) Tractor Rally
BKU (Charuni) led by Gurnam Singh Charuni from Haryana also planned a solidarity tractor rally to support the protest.
Farmers Protest – Haryana Police Released Video
Furthermore, in response to the farmers protest, Haryana Police released videos alleging that the farmers protest is being aggressive at Shambhu border, while on the other hand, farmer leaders claim that excessive force is being used by the centre, along with tear gas and rubber bullets to halt their march.
Clashes erupted following which a farmer suffered with heart attack and a police personnel also sustained major injuries.

Farmers Demand
Apart from the MSP guarantees, the farmers across the country seek Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations, pension, debt waiver, no tariff hikes, withdrawal of cases, justice for Lakhimpur Kheri victims, Land Acquisition Act reinstatement, and compensation for agitators’ families.
