After years of delays, officials from the Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority and the Noida Authority announced on Sunday that they have reached an agreement to finish the long-awaited Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad Expressway. The Project is expected to cut the travel time by as much as 40 minutes between the three cities.
600-Meter Bridge Over Yamuna River To Connect Faridabad And Noida
The two states have agreed to share the cost equally for constructing a 600-meter bridge over the Yamuna River near Mangroli village in Noida. This bridge will link the expressway to Faridabad.
The Noida Authority will cover half of the bridge’s cost, while the construction will be handled by the Haryana agency, said officials. Once the project estimates are finalized by the end of the year, work on the ground will begin.
As quoted by Hindustan Times, Noida Authority’s Chief General Manager Vijay Rawal stated, “Now we have got an official letter from the Faridabad government body that they are ready to share the project cost.”
FNG Expressway To Reduce Travel Time
He also mentioned, “This project will immensely benefit not only Ghaziabad or Noida but also Faridabad, as it will cut travel time by up to 40 minutes.”
The FNG Expressway, initially suggested in 1989 to ease traffic congestion in the national capital by offering a route for motorists to bypass the city while travelling between the three cities has made minimal progress over the past 27 years.
Officials mentioned, poor coordination between Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, along with unresolved funding concerns—especially for the Yamuna bridge—as major factors contributing to the delay.
Progress Of The FNG Expressway
The 22-kilometer section of the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad Expressway in Noida, starting from NH-24, is approximately 70 percent finished and is partially operational. However, officials report that land disputes and funding issues have halted progress on the remaining work. Additionally, a 5-kilometer elevated section over the Hindon embankment road will be constructed once the bridge work begins.
