A family of four died by suicide in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district. Police said the family members consumed sulfas tablets to end their lives.
According to PTI, the victims were identified as Manohar Lodhi (45), his son Ankit (16), daughter Shivani (18), and grandmother Phulrani Lodhi (70). The incident took place at Tehar village in the district. The motive behind the extreme step is under investigation.
A senior police official said Phulrani and Ankit died on the spot, while Shivani died during treatment at the hospital. Manohar was referred to Sagar, but he died on the way to the hospital.
The Khurai Civil Hospital doctor said four persons had consumed Sulphas tablets. “Out of four, two of them were brought dead,” the doctor said.
UP: Wife connives with lover to poison husband twice
In a separate incident in Firozabad’s Ulau village, a young man named Sunil succumbed to poisoning, allegedly administered by his wife and her lover.
According to Firozabad City SP Ravi Shankar Prasad, the police registered a case on July 24 after Sunil’s mother accused her daughter-in-law and a man from the same village of poisoning her son. Both the accused, Sunil’s wife and her lover, were arrested and sent to jail.
‘Both the accused have been arrested’
Firozabad City SP Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “A case was registered on July 24 in which the plaintiff from Ulau, under Tundla police station, accused her daughter-in-law and a man from the same village of poisoning her son Sunil. Both the accused have been arrested and sent to jail. The two were allegedly in a love affair, which the accused’s husband came to know about. They poisoned his food.”
