A clinic owner in Rajasthan’s Bundi district found himself in police custody post administering a fatal injection to a man who later passed away. The incident came to light when Om Prakesh Gurjar, a 38-year-old resident of Devpura village in Indergarh, sought treatment at the clinic for a persistent cough and fever. Unfortunately, the person in charge of the clinic, Hariom Saini, aged 35, was not a qualified doctor but a General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) diploma holder.
On Monday, Saini allegedly administered a Monocef 500 mg injection to Om Prakesh. Shortly after receiving the injection, Om Prakesh’s health rapidly deteriorated, leading to a drop in his pulse and blood pressure. He lost consciousness and passed away later that same day.
To make matters worse, the clinic proprietor, Hariom Saini, with the assistance of an accomplice named Deepak, allegedly disposed off Om Prakesh’s body on the side of the road in Indergarh town. In a disturbing twist, Saini placed Om Prakesh’s mobile phone in his hand to potentially mislead investigators.
Following a complaint filed by the deceased’s family, the police initiated an investigation into the incident and filed a murder case against unidentified individuals. Through the use of CCTV footage and technical analysis, the investigators were able to identify Hariom Saini as the prime suspect. During questioning, Saini reportedly confessed to his involvement in the crime.
Hariom Saini now faces charges under various sections of the Indian Medical Council Act, as well as Section 420, Section 411, and Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. He was apprehended on a Sunday evening, five days after Om Prakesh’s body was discovered, and subsequently appeared in court on Monday, where he was remanded to judicial custody.
Additionally, authorities took action to seize Saini’s clinic, underlining the seriousness of the alleged malpractice and criminal actions that took place there.
