PIB warns against ‘Deepfake’ video targeting India

However, the fake letter is not only an isolated incident. PIB has flagged Pakistan-linked disinformation targeting India in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter). For instance, the Government recently warned against a deepfake video circulating online.

“Pakistani propaganda handles are sharing a digitally manipulated video of BSF IG, Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav, falsely portraying him as admitting failure in counter-terrorism operations. BSF IG Ashok Yadav has NOT made any such remark. Here is his actual statement from the annual press conference: This AI-generated fake video is being circulated to mislead the public,” PIB wrote.
