What is eye flu?
Eye flu is an infection, which is commonly called ‘aankhon ka aana’ in Hindi, and conjunctivitis, pink eye, or red eye in English. In conjunctivitis, the infection spreads to the white part of the eyes, which causes difficulty in seeing. Later, it starts Swelling in the outer parts of the eye.
Why are its cases on the rise suddenly?
According to health experts, due to low temperatures and high humidity in monsoon season, people come in contact with bacteria, viruses, and allergies more quickly and this causes allergic reactions or eye infections like conjunctivitis. The other reason is, due to heavy rains in Delhi and many surrounding areas in the past days, dirty water remained filled for several days. Waterlogging can be the cause of several diseases. However, cases of eye flu are increasing the fastest as of now.
What are the symptoms of eye flu?
Red eyes, itching in eyes, swelling, pain, sticking of eyelids, watery eyes, light sensitivity, etc are the major symptoms of eye flu.
Does it spread by sight and touch?
This is the most common question, people are asking, the answer to this is ‘Yes’. According to health experts, conjunctivitis can spread by touching. However, the infection does not spread due to looking into anyone’s eyes.
What infected people should do?
If you have contracted eye flu, then Avoid touching the eyes repeatedly when and If water is coming from the eyes, keep cleaning it with the help of a clean cloth. You should Avoid applying someone else’s makeup like kajal, eyeliner, etc, and most importantly, Don’t even use someone else’s towel.
To cure it fast, start Compressing the eyes with a warm napkin 2 to 3 times a day. Apart from this, avoid going to any place with high dust.
If you have come in the grip of this disease, then first of all isolate yourself. Avoid going out of the house for 3 to 4 days and wear glasses, in case you go outside.
