‘Exit Polls Are Designed To Favor…’, Alleges Maharashtra LoP Vijay Wadettiwar

'Exit Polls Are Designed To Favor...', Alleges Maharashtra LoP Vijay Wadettiwar

Vijay Wadettiwar, the leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra legislative assembly, rejected exit poll predictions favoring the BJP-led NDA, alleging they aimed to appease the ruling party. Wadettiwar asserted confidence in the formation of the INDIA alliance government on June 4, stating, “The truth will emerge on the 4th, and we will seize power. I firmly believe we will secure over 35 seats in Maharashtra, surpassing that number.”

What do the Maharashtra Exit Polls predict?

On Saturday, exit polls forecasted that the Bhartiya Janata Party-led National-Democratic Alliance (NDA) would secure victory in 32 to 35 seats in Maharashtra, surpassing the INDIA bloc. Voting for 48 seats in Maharashtra concluded across the first five phases of the Lok Sabha elections.

As per the figures, the NDA is obtaining 26 seats, while the INDIA is securing 22 seats. News 18’s exit poll survey also suggests a win for the NDA in the state, with the alliance securing 32 to 35 seats, while the INDIA bloc wins 15 to 18 seats. Republic PMARQ’s exit poll indicates that the NDA will secure victory on 29 seats, while the INDIA bloc will win 19 seats.

Maharashtra 2019 Lok Sabha election results

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP secured 23 out of 48 seats, while Shiv Sena won 18 seats. The Nationalist Congress Party managed to secure victory in four seats. Similarly, in the 2014 general elections, the BJP secured 23 seats while Shiv Sena secured 18 seats. The NCP had won four seats while Congress managed to secure two seats. With its 48 Lok Sabha seats, Maharashtra is the second-largest contributor to the lower house of Parliament after Uttar Pradesh. Maharashtra, renowned for its political diversity and significant electoral influence, crucially shapes national politics. The state witnessed a political battle between the Shiv Sena-UBT (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction) and the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction)-BJP alliance, as well as the NCP (Ajit Pawar) and the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar).
