Exclusive: Will ‘Operation Sindoor’ Lead To A Nuclear War Between India And Pakistan? Defence Expert Sanjeet Sirohi Explains

"Any sort of targeted attack which hits the target, without an intent to cause damage to any area other than the target, falls under precision strike or bombing," said defence expert Sirohi.

India carried out Operation Sindoor, a series of targeted military strikes, destroying the terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). India firmly iterated its tough stance against cross-border terrorism, with this operation. The strikes were in retaliation to Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians.

The precision strikes have escalated tensions between the two nations, causing significant disruptions, particularly in northern India. Another thing, which is doing the rounds on social media, is the possibility of the war between the two nuclear-powered states.

In an exclusive conversation with News24, renowned Defence and Foreign Relation expert, Colonel (Retd.) Sanjeet Sirohi talks on the possibility of a nuclear war between India and Pakistan. He said, “No, there is no possibility of a nuclear war. India may escalate matters, but to a certain point, halting it as soon as it nears breaching the nuclear threshold.” Sirohi further said, “Pakistan is in no position to start a nuclear war. No one, even China, will allow Pakistan to do so. Therefore, there is absolutely no possibility of nuclear war between the two nations.”

Will Pakistan Retaliate?

Sirohi said that there is nothing predictable about Pakistan. He explained, “On one hand Pakistan vows to retaliate, but on the other hand, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that if ‘India stops the attack, we will also not do anything’. So there is nothing predictable about Pakistan.”

“Pakistan’s leadership is unreliable, as its military holds all rights, when it comes to decision-making,” Sirohi added. However, he remarked that any major action by Pakistan could attract a “never seen before” retaliation from India. “Retaliation from India to any such action by Pakistan would be huge. All three forces: Indian Army, Navy, and Air-force will collectively conduct a massive-massive operation, if Pakistan engages in any provocative actions.”

What Else Did The Defence Expert Said On Operation Sindoor?

Sirohi also talked on the precision strike, carried out under Operation Sindoor. He said, “There is not much difference between precision strike and any other type of strike.” “Any sort of targeted attack which hits the target, without an intent to cause damage to any area other than the target, falls under precision strike or bombing.”
