Everyone is eager to find out. Nakul Tiwari, a student present in the basement, has shared his harrowing experience, which will leave you stunned. Nakul was in the Rao IAS library during the accident on the evening of July 27. He was the last person to escape death’s clutches and has described the terrifying events he witnessed.
Library Gate Opened at 7 PM
In an interview with News 24, Nakul Tiwari recounted the incident of water filling the basement and the last moments of Tanya Soni and Shreya Yadav. According to Nakul, he was in the Rao IAS library with Tanya and Shreya on the evening of July 27. It was almost 7 PM when the librarian called out for everyone to leave. The library usually closes at 7 PM every day. All the students thought they were being asked to leave because the library was closing. Little did they know that death was waiting for them outside the library gate.
Sound of Explosion from the Door
According to Nakul, there were 25-30 students in the library. Upon hearing the librarian’s call, everyone began packing their bags. Suddenly, the librarian opened the door, and what followed shocked everyone. Water from outside rushed into the library like a flood. The students near the door managed to get out easily, but those inside were trapped. The water’s force was so strong that it shattered the library door. Nakul mentioned that after water filled one door, they ran towards the other, but it felt like a bomb had exploded. The gate was destroyed, and one of their friends got injured.
Tanya Didn’t Give Up
Death loomed over them, but Tanya didn’t lose hope. Nakul shared that Tanya asked everyone to form a chain by holding hands. However, before they could complete the chain, the water pressure broke their grip. Somehow, they all showed the courage to grab the railing and escape through the stairs. Only Nakul, Tanya, and Shreya were left inside. The three of them stood on a table in the library, but the water level kept rising.

Both Chanted Prayers
Nakul said that Tanya and Shreya hoped someone would come to rescue them from outside. Out of fear, they started chanting “Om Namah Shivaya.” They were chanting loudly when someone threw a pipe from above. Since Nakul was standing near the pipe, he immediately grabbed it. The library was in complete darkness. Tanya took out Nakul’s phone from his bag, turned on the flashlight, and told Nakul to take Shreya out first as she was very scared.
