News24 Exclusive: In a powerful show of solidarity and resilience, Bollywood actor Atul Kulkarni visited Pahalgam just days after a tragic terrorist attack that claimed the lives of at least 26 tourists. While talking to News24 on the serene banks of the Lidder River, Kulkarni shared an emphatic message: “Kashmir humara hai (Kashmir is ours),” emphasizing that fear should not deter tourists from exploring the beauty of the Valley.

The actor's visit comes at a crucial time when many have reconsidered their travel plans to Kashmir following the recent violence. Kulkarni urged tourists to remain undeterred, stating, “Terrorists may attempt to instill fear and discourage tourists, but we must not let their actions dictate our choices.” He expressed his feeling over reports indicating that 90% of bookings had been canceled in the wake of the attack, and said the importance of maintaining a connection with the Kashmir is important to fail terrorists nefarious designs.

Reflecting on the heart-wrenching incident that shook the community, Kulkarni said, “What happened on the 22nd was a tragedy that should never have occurred. It’s easy to react with anger or despair, but I chose to take action by coming here directly, without security, to show my support for the people who lost their loved ones and for the locals of Pahalgam.” He said that while the local people are grieving, at the same time their warmth and hospitality remain unwavering.

Kulkarni said that “Tourism is vital for Kashmir's economy and its people. We cannot allow fear to drive a wedge between us and this beautiful region,” he added “If you have already a travel plans for Valley, consider not to cancel it and come to Kashmir surely.
