Former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader B.S. Yediyurappa could face increased troubles as a Bengaluru court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him in a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) case on Thursday. This development might lead to his arrest. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CID sought an arrest warrant from the First Fast Track Court because Yediyurappa did not appear for questioning on Wednesday. Yediyurappa Seeks Anticipatory Bail
The senior BJP leader, who is also a member of the party’s parliamentary board, is currently in Delhi and is expected to join the investigation upon his return. Following the issuance of the warrant, Yediyurappa has applied for anticipatory bail in the Karnataka High Court, with a hearing scheduled for Friday.
According to the police, Yediyurappa faces charges under the POCSO Act and Section 354 A (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
