New Delhi: Delhi LG VK Saxena on Wednesday gave approval to Economic Offences Wing of Delhi Police for investigating 82 officials of Delhi Prison Department under Prevention of Corruption Act for their alleged involvement in an organized crime syndicate being run by notorious conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar from Rohini Jail.

It is noted that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday filed a chargesheet against Sukesh Chandrashekhar and his aide in a fraud case of 2019.

CBI has submitted a chargesheet against Sukesh Chandrashekhar and Sanjay Jain alias Sanjay Chicken, resident of Punjabi Bagh, Delhi, before CJM, Chengalpattu of Kancheepuram District in Tamil Nadu. CBI had filed a case in May 2020 on the orders Supreme Court of India and took over the investigation of an FIR registered in 2019, earlier registered at police station DCB, Tiruvallur, Chennai (Tamilnadu) against an accused.

Both of the aforementioned accused’s roles came to light during the investigation. The accused allegedly planned to impersonate someone else using digital tools. One of the accused is accused of committing the crime while on parole from custody in October 2019. They also allegedly impersonated numerous senior government officials by using call spoofing techniques to make phone calls to various people who were the targets of criminal investigations by various investigating agencies.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday the establishment of four Zila Sainik Boards (ZSBs) in the NCT of Delhi for the welfare of around 77,000 Ex-Servicemen (ESM), widows of ESM, and their families has received approval from Delhi Lt Governor VK Saxena.

The South-West, East/Shahdara, North-West, and Central/New Delhi districts will now have ZSBs comprised of 10 officials each, catering to the demands of the ESM for relocation and rehabilitation, following the Governor’s assent, who also serves as the head of the Rajya Sainik Board.
