Senior citizens in India are now better positioned to access essential healthcare services thanks to various government initiatives and health insurance options.

In a significant move to expand healthcare access, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced that all senior citizens aged 70 and above will be provided health insurance coverage under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), regardless of their income status. This initiative ensures that elderly citizens can receive essential medical treatment without financial constraints.

Key Highlights of The Scheme:

1. Eligibility: Any Indian citizen aged 70 years or older is eligible for health coverage under this scheme. The only requirement is the individual’s age, which is determined based on the Aadhaar card. There are no income criteria for eligibility.
