New Delhi: A contractual-based employee in the Union Finance ministry was allegedly found to leak secrets and classified documents to Pakistan. The arrest was made on Monday from Uttar Pardesh’s Ghaziabad based on a tip-off.
He has been charged under the Official Secrets Act and the IT Act.
“The accused is a contract worker in the Union Ministry of Finance who is working as a multi-tasking staff. Suspicious messages were sent from his mobile number to another mobile number…he shared confidential documents with this number and in return received money online,” said Ghaziabad DCP Shubham Patel.

As per media reports, the certain number was Karachi-based that was saved by the name of “Anjali of Kolkata.” The police has also verified the bank transaction.
According to the police, the accused has sent the information to a “woman.” It said the illegal act of transferring classified data could have endangered national security and harmed India’s relationship with other countries.
