Ahmedabad: Feeling unsafe? Have been robbed or pick-pocketed? Lost your phone or vehicle? Went through a disturbing experience of violence? Police are always there to help you but if you’re in Ahmedabad, the communication is even more smooth. Ahmedabad police have installed 204 emergency call boxes in different public areas to address the concern for the safety of women, children, and senior citizens.
What are these boxes?
The safety boxes installed near bus stations, banks, and other areas provide a two-way communication facility wherein the official from the police control room can see the caller like a regular video calling service. It therefore becomes easier for police to understand the situation and take action accordingly.

Two-way communication also helps in providing pieces of evidence in the case of violence, domestic or otherwise.
How does it function?
One doesn’t need to dial a number. The best part is that no phone is required. Even if you don’t have your cell phone or are in a low-network area, this emergency box can help you. It functions on one button, the user/caller has to press it and someone from the police control room will attend to it to provide immediate support.
