In the wake of a disappointing defeat in the Haryana Assembly elections, a delegation of Congress leaders will meet with the Election Commission of India (ECI) today at 6 PM in Delhi. This decision comes after numerous Congress members expressed concerns about the vote counting process in several constituencies.
Concerns Over Election Process
The Election Commission responded to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s statements regarding the unexpected election results. In a letter to Kharge, the ECI acknowledged the party’s formal position on the electoral outcome and agreed to meet the delegation to address their concerns.

Rahul Gandhi Addresses the Election Results
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, also voiced his doubts about the election results. In a post on X, he mentioned the possibility of filing a “complaint” with the Election Commission regarding alleged issues with the electronic voting machines (EVMs). He expressed gratitude to the people of Haryana for their support and assured them that the party would continue fighting for social and economic justice.
BJP’s Resounding Victory in Haryana
The Haryana Assembly elections saw the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieve a remarkable victory, winning 48 of the 90 seats. This outcome defied pre-election exit polls, which suggested a closer race. Meanwhile, Congress managed to secure 37 seats but could not leverage the decade-long anti-incumbency sentiment against the ruling party.
As Congress prepares for its meeting with the ECI, the party remains focused on analyzing the election results and investigating any alleged irregularities, while reinforcing its commitment to advocating for the rights of the people of Haryana.
