Eight Killed As Car Catches Fire After Collision With SUV In Surendranagar

Surendranagar DSP Girish Kumar Pandya said, "On the highway connecting Lakhtar and Surendranagar, two cars collided and one of them caught fire, killing all the 8 passengers in it. The police have shifted all the bodies to the hospital, and identification and post-mortem of the bodies are underway."

Eight people were killed and several others injured following a massive collision between a car and an SUV on the highway connecting Lakhtar and Surendranagar.

Surendranagar DSP Girish Kumar Pandya said, “On the highway connecting Lakhtar and Surendranagar, two cars collided and one of them caught fire, killing all the 8 passengers in it. The police have shifted all the bodies to the hospital, and identification and post-mortem of the bodies are underway. Further investigation is going on… One of the dead was a child, and the rest were adults.”

The DSP said the front portion of the SUV was severely damaged due to the impact of the collision.

On August 16, three people died and seven others were critically injured after a KSRTC bus crashed into a broken-down truck parked on the highway near Ittinabail in Yellapur taluk on Friday night, said police.

The KSRTC bus was travelling from Bagalkot to Mangaluru. The accident occurred when the bus rammed into a Kerala-registered truck that had broken down and was parked on the roadside.

Among the deceased are two women, Neelavva, aged 38 years old and Gourijavva, aged 43 years old, while the identity of the third victim, a man, is yet to be confirmed. The injured have been shifted to KIMS Hospital in Hubballi for treatment, the police further said.
