Mumbai: As Enforcement Directorate (ED) carries a raid at Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut’s residence, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Raosaheb Danve asserted that the probe agencies are working ‘independently’.
Said Union Minister Raosaheb Danve: “CBI and ED work independently. It has nothing to do with politics.”
The ED raids comes after the Shiv Sena leader skipped the summon twice. ED called Raut to appear before the former on July 27 after he missed earlier session citing ongoing Parliament proceedings.
After which, the investigative agency on Sunday reached Raut’s house along with a team of CISF. The ED raided Raut’s house in Bandup in eastern suburbs of Mumbai.
Raut came under the scanner of the ED owing to a project of a chawl in Mumbai. The ED intended to interrogate the Shiv Sena leader regarding several money transactions that also involves his spouse and close aides.
Meanwhile, Raut who stands with the Uddhav Thackeray camp of Shiv Sena, dismissed the allegations saying that he is being framed sue to the political vendetta.
But BJP leaders kept hitting back at Raut raising questions like — “Why is he scared of Enforcement Directorate if he is innocent?” asked BJP MLA Ram Kadam.
Sanjay Raut’s close associate, Pravin Raut is under judicial custody owing to the alleged land scam worth Rs 1,034-crore related to the re-development of the Patra chawl in Goregaon area.
