ED Seizes Huge Pile Of Cash In Raid From Jharkhand Minister’s Aide

Simultaneous raids were conducted at nine locations, including Sail City, with one team searching for Vikas Kumar, an engineer from the Road Construction Department. Another team conducted raids in the Bariatu, Morhabadi, and Bodia areas.

On Monday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a series of searches at various places in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. These raids resulted in the uncovering of unreported cash amounting to ₹25 crore.

The latest raids, carried out under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), have focused on around six locations associated with Virendra Ram, the former chief engineer of the Jharkhand Rural Development Department, and his close associates.

Virendra Ram was apprehended by the ED in February 2023 concerning a money laundering investigation.

Video footage from the raid depicts a large pile of currency notes strewn across a room allegedly associated with the household staff of Sanjiv Lal, the personal secretary to Jharkhand Rural Development minister Alamgir Alam.

The investigative agency is conducting simultaneous raids at nine different locations, including Sail City in Ranchi. On Monday morning, one team from the ED was searching Sail City in pursuit of Vikas Kumar, an engineer affiliated with the Road Construction Department. Meanwhile, another ED team is carrying out raids in the Bariatu, Morhabadi, and Bodia regions.
