The Enforcement Directorate (ED) said that it raided around 20 locations in Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Bangalore in relation to black market performance by ticket scalpers of Coldplay’s forthcoming “Music of the Spheres” tour and Diljit Dosanjh’s “Dilluminati” tour. The ED’s investigation is based on allegations of unauthorized ticket resale, ticket scam through fake tickets and exorbitant ticket prices.
Both shows had earlier sold out in minutes through the official ticketing partners –BookMyShow and Zomato Live. FIRs were lodged on charges of fake ticket selling and outrageous ticket selling prices across several states. Even, BookMyShow has filed FIRs against many of these suspects involved in these scams by itself.
During the raids in 13 places on October 25 that were conducted simultaneously in several cities, the ED confiscated mobile phones, laptops, and SIM cards. Reports indicate that scammers circulated fake tickets, including those available on Instagram, WhatsApp and Telegram, authorities said.
The ED’s actions are designed to identify money laundering in such scams and determine the funds received from the illegal ticket selling businesses.
Coldplay is all set to perform in Mumbai on 18, 19 and 21 January 2025, while Diljit Dosanjh tour starts in Delhi on 26th October with shows in Jaipur, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and ending in Guwahati on 29th December.
